Swim Lessons!

Gavin had a blast taking swimming lessons at the Y this spring. He learned a few different strokes, pool and water safety and even got to go down the big slide with Bryan during the last class! He can't wait to get into the lake this summer and keeps asking us to set up his little pool in the back yard! Next weekend is our annual stay at the Depot in Minneapolis. It is one of my favorite weekends of the entire year, and Gavin can't stop talking about it this year! He can't wait to play at the waterpark, and play basketball in the pool with Owen! I love that he remembers everything and can talk about things that we have done in the past!

Loving Landen!

Wow! I have been the worst blogger! We have just been so busy having too much fun! We have gotten to spend a little time with Landen, and have been loving it! We have a baby shower for him in April, and were at his baptism last weekend. Gavin is just loving his new cousin and can't wait to teach him all sorts of new things!!!

pretty girl....

My friend Alison and her husband Brian came to visit us this past weekend, bringing with them their beautiful daughter, Keira! It was so wonderful to see them and spend some time snuggling with that pretty girl. Gavin thought she was wonderful and couldn't stop hugging and kissing her! I just wish we could see them more often!

techno kid

It's amazing for me to think about how different the technology is that Gavin is growing up with. He has no problem turning on the computer, navigating the mouse, finding disney.com/preschool, and playing his games. He knows exactly how to answer my phone, put it on speaker phone and have a conversation with someone, all while playing angry birds at the same time. He knows how to find and play all sorts of games on my phone without any help at all. They recently started using a computer lab at school, and Gav loves it! There is a specific program that they get to color different bible scenes, and he just thinks it is great. He was really upset the other day when we were going home, and his friends were going to the lab. When we got in the car he says "Mom, can't we just go to Computer Lab Dot Com?" "No Gavin, that isn't where that game is that you like, does Miss Lindsey put in a disc when you play the game? Maybe we could ask her what the name is and go to the store and buy it." His response was... "Oh man, it's probably at a store really super far away......... or Target." Ha! He's learned well, you can buy anything at Target! Also, the other day I asked Gavin if maybe one day next week we should take a little trip to see Landen, if Krista was feeling up to it. He wanted to go immediately. I told him we had to wait and ask Krista if that would be ok. His response? "Mommy, just text her and see what she says!" It really makes me wonder what else is going to be so different for him. What is the next new thing they are going to come up with?

tricky little guy!

I feel like all I do is work work work! I am ready for winter to be over any time now. We're starting to get little hints of Spring, but it is definitly not coming fast enough for me! I just have another funny little Gavin story to share!
Last Sunday, I watch Gav go into my bathroom, shut the door, flush the toliet and walk back out. Here was our conversation.
M: Gav, I didn't hear the water run... did you wash your hands?
G: What are you talking about?
M: Did you wash your hands after you went potty.
G: I didn't go potty.
M: Gavin... I just watched you go into the bathroom and heard you flush the toliet. Go wash your hands.
G: that must have been dad.
M: (silence...)
G: Mom, that was just your imagination.
He trys to get away with anything... little stinker.

babies....

Saving babies is near and dear to my heart. I truly believe in the March of Dimes and their mission to have all babies born healthy. This year, I walk for Landen. Thanks to research supported by the March of Dimes, babies like Landen, born prematurely, get the care that they need. He is now a healthy, happy, growing little boy, safe at home where he should be!

things that make you go hmmmmm....

Gavin is a pretty funny kid, he says things all the time that make us laugh. here are a few new favorites...

* The other night before I left for work, he was hanging on me and crying saying "mom, don't leave, please don't leave!" I told him he leaves me to go to school every day, and that's ok. To which he responded... "well MOM... I need to get money for my checks so we can go to Disney World!"

* Randomly on the drive home from preschool one day, we had this conversation:
G: Mom, are you going to get a baby in your belly, or what?!
M: Well, Gav, I'm not sure.
G: Well it better be a sister!
M: Gav we don't really have a choice, if I do have a baby, it might be a boy - what would you do if you had a brother?
G: We could, like, take it back... or give it to a family that really needs a baby.
M: no.... it doesn't really work that way.
G: well when you have my sister, her name will be Gavin too.
M: that would just be confusing, we already have a Gavin in our family.
G: I said, her name would be Gavin TWO!
M: What if I walked into the room and said hey Gav?
G: (rolling his eyes) you could just say hey you on the left or hey you on the right!

He seriously has an answer for EVERYTHING!

Now this week, he's been sick, and taking medication, so I'm going to blame this next conversation on that, but really, it was probably just Gav. Last night I was lying next to him before bed and here's our talk....

G: Mom when did you get Rigley?
M: a long time ago before you were born.
G: oh - when he was a baby in your belly?
M: um no, puppies don't come from mommies' bellys, he came from a store.
G: yeah, like a pet store.
M: yes.
G: Mom, did you know crabs have gold teeth?
M: No Gavin, I didn't know that.
G: Oh - neither did I. Good night.

I'm still going hmmmmmm????
