fun at the "park"

We had a great time last night at Nana and Papa's park! Gavin and I were pretending that the playset was a pirate ship and that Rigley was a crocodile trying to get us! Gavin was on the look out and I had to steer the ship - then he would put something down the slide and yell "anchors away!" We would then slide down and chase Rigley around! He has such a great imagination! Needless to say all three of us were very tired by the end of the night! I think the boys will get good use out of the new playset - it's pretty cool!

thoughts....

I'm just thinking today about what makes me happy - pretty flowers for one - these flowers lasted forever in my window - I smiled every time I looked at them! Sunshine, a nice evening run, Bryan's smile, Gavin's laugh.... just to name a few more. I had a very long weekend at work, and missed out on all sorts of things - like a pool party, a concert, and all that time with Gavin, I'm completly exhausted and can't get rid of my headache. But then I think about those people who are sick or have lost someone they love - and what do I have to complain about? I'm pretty lucky to have these people in my life - I really do know that! Today should be fun too - Gavin has a field trip at daycare today. They are going to water their pumpkins they are growing! He was so excited when he woke up this morning. Then I am going to meet his class at the park for a picnic then I get the whole rest of the day with Gavin! My mom and dad built a playstystem in their backyard (which Gavin refers to as his "park") so I think we'll drive there tonight and play a little bit! I was hoping for a nice hot afternoon so Gav and I could go to the water park - but it doesn't look like it's going to get there. Where is my nice, hot, sticky summer? I hope it's saving itself for our week at the lake coming up in August! We are also getting very excited for our trips coming up - I can't wait to go to Duluth with Bryan, Brandon and Sara this weekend - fun adult time! And the countdown is on for our trip to Florida. My mom has brainwashed Gavin... I was getting the oil changed in my car last week and a very nice woman was keeping Gavin entertained; she mentioned to him that he was a very happy child - and his reply? "well, Owen was crabby last week!" and she said well that's ok, sometimes you just have to be crabby - he looked at her with shock and says "nana says you can't be crabby at disney world!" Last night he really wanted to do a puzzle before supper and was getting really whiney about it - I told him to stop fussing and Bryan asked "what are you going to do in disney world?" he said "smile like this" and had the biggest grin on his face! He always talks about the buzz ride and how he wants to push the buttons! I think we are going to have a great time!!!! He's also been "training" lately for his race with Owen. He was so excited last night when I got home from my run - he kept talking about needing to run and how him and owen were going to win the race! He was a little concerned for me though - it worried him that I was breathing so hard I could hardly answer his questions - he just looked at me and kept saying - what happened? what happened? I finally was able to tell him that I just ran really fast and that I was just really tired. Then he bent down and started breathing heavy and says "it was a good run!" He's a pretty fun kid.

date night

Gavin and I went on a little date tonight while Bryan was off golfing~ we had peanut butter sandwiches at the park, played for awhile and then went to see Ice Age 3 in the theater. It was so fun - Gavin LOVES the movies.... he was so into this one, laughing at the right times, gasping when he should and even jumping at some parts! Then at the very end, he got out of his chair and just started dancing to the ending credits music - it was so cute! He zonked out cold as soon as we got home and into bed - but not before he showered me in kisses and thank yous for taking him to the movie!

organization.

I love being organized and de-cluttering things. Gavin's toy space has been bothering me for a while now, and I slowly keep changing things. Bryan and I set it up differently last night, and I love it - except for a few things that I just can't change. Everything has it's own space - the totes just need some cute little labels I have yet to make. We are going to get a table from Ikea, add a little chalkboard paint (and maybe paint the bookshelf, I just don't know what color yet...) I even framed some of Gav's artwork for decoration... pretty cute.

more fun....

We had a great time at Shane and Krista's last weekend! I wish it would have been hot and sunny on Saturday while the boys were away golfing 44 holes.... then us girls could have enjoyed the pool and a nice cold beverage! However, we were able to make up for it and do lots of swimming on Sunday, so all is well! I got some great sister time in and always loved Owie time!

so much fun lately....

Last weekend, Brian, Jill, Kate and Jack came to stay with us for awhile! We had such a good time. Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Jill and I started our garage sale (which Jill then so nicely finished this last weekend - and I must say, we were pretty successful!) I do have to admit that it was A LOT of work - between sorting, pricing, organizing, setting up each day and then taking things down that night - parking outside for a week, etc. However - it was so worth it to spend that much time with Jill. Gavin had a blast playing with Kate and Jack - and Bryan had Brian to golf with! I miss having them here!

{tragedy}

Gavin experienced his first major loss last week - and boy did he take it hard! He dropped his Cars water bottle on the cement outside and was absolutely HEARTBROKEN about it! It's hard to describe his reaction, it was just so sad. He cried so hard and so completely from his heart - he really was devastated - poor guy - nothing could mend his broken heart - for about 15 min until he forgot about it and moved on to something else!

Happy 4th of July!

Well, after I was completly dreading this weekend (because I had to work), it ended up not being so bad afterall. The fourth of July is my favorite holiday - because it's filled with so much fun! It happens to be Spicer's hometown days - which is always a blast! I LOVE hot hot weather and sunshine - so it's the perfect holiday for me. Friday we spent some time on the lake (which is our favorite place to be!) Then Nick, Ang, Lauren, Ellie and Brandon and Sara all stayed at our house - we had a yummy supper and then hung out by a fire. I was lucky enough to be on call until 10:30, but then had to work the rest of the night. I was pretty tired on Saturday, so I spend most of the day sleeping, but Bryan went to Eagle lake to visit friends that afternoon. Gavin had a lot of fun throwing water balloons, watching a boat parade and swimming! I again - got to be on call for the whole night this time, which was perfect! We met all of our friends at Melvin's for supper and then hung out in Spicer visiting people until the fireworks that evening. Sunday, Bryan and I took Gavin golfing in Renville - it was a nice sunny day to spend outside. I can't wait for next year though, when I don't have to worry about work at all and I can just enjoy the holiday - but I'm pretty happy this one worked out the way it did!
