just another fun thing....

Hey everyone! I have pictures to post, I just haven't been able to download them, so I thought I would just give a fun update of what G has been up to. The little things that he does everyday are what really make me smile, so I thought I would share a few of those. Lately, he has been so extra polite, he always says excuse me when he walks past you and he always says please when he asks for something (which makes it hard to say no!) But our favorite thing that he does lately is says thank you to EVERYTHING! It's hilarious, and in his little voice it sounds like "sank you." We were in the car and he asked "what's that?" I said "that's a tree" and he says "oh sank you." Today we were walking down the stairs and I made it to the room first, he goes "where are you?" I said in your toy room and he says "oh sank you mommy." Its just so darn sweet! He literally says it to everything we do! We also had pizza for dinner the other night and I gave him some pop; he looked at it and says "this is a treat!" Lately he has been calling daddy "Bryan" at dinner bryan was looking the other way and he says "Bryan - let's eat!" we were in the car after leaving the gym and Bryan and I were talking and gavin yells from the back seat... "bryan - stop!" We just keep reminding him that his name is daddy - but for now it's pretty cute! When we leave daycare he always turns around and waves and says "goodbye friends!" His words are coming so fast, I can hardly believe everything that he can say! Above all of that though, my heart just melts when Gavin says "I love you mommy" he can say it so clear and he says it without me saying it first - I was changing his diaper the other night and he just grabbed onto my arm and gave me a huge hug and with the biggest smile says "I love you mommy!" He is just the best!! We have enjoyed the Fall (as much as I can knowing that my least favorite time of year is around the corner.) Gavin LOVED the leaves, those pictures are to come! Of course my camera wasn't charged, so I didn't get the super cute ones that I wanted... but I got some pictures none the less. We also carved and painted pumpkins on Thursday night - which was fun too! I worked last weekend, so Bryan and Gavin got to see a firetruck with uncle Nick and Gavin also helped papa combine corn! Papa sent home some corn with Gavin and today all he could talk about was "papas corn!" I guess when he saw dad in the combine he said "Papas mowing!" wow - we have had a fun month! I'll try and post some pictures tomorrow!!

what a day!

Oy! today has been quite the day! I had the day off, so Gavin didn't go to daycare today. We started off this morning with a wake up call by G at 5 am! He wouldn't go back to sleep, so I finally gave in and let him watch the disney channel in our bed. all was fine this morning, until gavin went into his room to play - I stole that quick moment to put a load of laundry in the wash... bad idea. by the time I went back in his room, he was standing in the doorway COVERED head to toe in lotion! (Bryan just told me last night I need to take all of the lotions out of G's room now that he has free reign!) He had a huge smile on his face and says to me "I wash with this soap mommy" It was all over his rug, all over the floor, all over the door and he was covered in it. Rigley somehow managed to stay free of that one. so, he got a bath, no big deal. Then I decided to let him help me bathe Rigley... yet another bad idea. There was water EVERYWHERE! He helped me clean that up and we continued to play. By 11:00 Gavin could barely keep his eyes open. I reheated last nights supper for a quick lunch and went to lay him down. he went right to his bed and we read some books, then he wanted to read "brown bear brown bear" to his baby (his new favorite book) I left him alone and pretty soon I heard him get up again, so I went back in and laid him down, at some point he gained a huge surge of energy because he was talking non stop! finally I got him to lay down again and went out to check my e-mail... pretty soon I heard a door slam and I could hear Gavin laughing. I opened his door - nothing - an empty room. then I hear "watch this rigley... one, two three - jump! four five six - I did it!!" then laughter and barking. Gavin is now showing off his jumping skills, on my bed to our dog. so I decided maybe I should try and lay down next to him (I really should have given up by this point) I put a pillow on the floor next to gavin's bed and told him it was quiet time, then he refused to lay in his bed, he wanted to lay on the floor too - I must have looked angry or frustrated because Gav comes up to me and says "don't cry mommy, need a hug?" I don't think I was that near tears, but I was a little flustered! He kept giving me these really big hugs and patting my back - so now I couldn't even be mad at the little monster! finally I gave in and we went downstairs to watch a movie. So, three hours after the whole ordeal started, he is sleeping like an angel in his bed.... what a day!

a bed update....

So far so good, Gavin seems to like his big boy bed! He did get up at 3 am for Bryan the other night while I was at work... but daddy didn't seem to mind. Last night, I woke up to a small crash (which I knew was my little buddy falling out of bed!) I went running in his room, thinking he was going to be upset and crying. Instead I found him simply crawling back into bed and lying down. I went over and rubbed his back and gave him kisses and all he said was "I fall" then rolled over and went right back to sleep. I also found books in his bed this morning that were not there when I put him to bed... he must have wanted to do some light reading during the night! I feel like this gives him a new independence and I'm happy the transition is going so well!

He's a BIG boy!

Well, we decided to turn Gav's crib into a toddler bed yesterday, and last night was his first night in his big boy bed.... and he did amazing! He crawled up into bed and said his prayers then just laid down and went to sleep! I think Rigley loved being able to sleep with him too, instead of on the floor next to the crib! I heard Gavin get out of bed this morning saying "Hi Rigley, where's Mommmy?" Then he came walking into my room looking so big and so old! Why is he growing up so fast?

Another pumpkin patch!

Yesterday we went to the A Maze 'N Farmyard with some friends from work and had so much fun! I think Gavin's favorite things were the huge air-filled jumping pumpkin and the mega-slide! We had fun seeing all sorts of animals, finding our way through the huge maze and going on a hayride (minus the hay) - I didn't have so much fun trying to control Gavin on the battery-powered four-wheeler! Bryan got a good laugh though as I attempted to save the fences that were holding Gavin in! It was so fun for Gavin to have so many kids to play with!

Papa's pumpkin!

Gavin was pretty excited to get his big pumpkin that papa grew for him this year... we can't wait to carve it and see how big the seeds are!

The Pumpkin Patch!

My four favorite pumpkins!

This past Saturday, Bryan, Krista and I took Owen and Gavin to Nelson's Farm near Litchfield for Gav's first pumpkin festival! We also met Nick, Lauren and Ellie there too, which was such a treat for G (and me too)- spending all day with ALL of his cousins! He was so excited, he could hardly stand it! There was so much for the kids to do - I was impressed with all of the activities. Gavin loved jumping off of the hay bails, panning for marbles, playing on the slides and of course picking out the perfect pumpkin! We also walked through the corn maze, fed the sheep and goats, raced on stick horses, and watched them launch a pumpkin! It was so fun to watch all of the kids play together, Gavin cried when it was time to say goodbye - he loves being with Lauren, Ellie and Owen!

Scrapbook weekend!

I had such a blast last weekend with my friends and sisters at our little scrap retreat at my house! I was also quite productive.... I finished an entire 12x12 Disney album from our last trip and I also am all caught up with Gavin's 3rd year album! I also am going to re-do the NICU scrapbook from work, so I've started working on that too - it's turning into quite the project, but I love doing it! It's hard to see from the pictures above, but I thought I would share some of my work!
